Sydney neurosurgeon Charlie Teo could swap gown for a wedding dress soon after he revealed the social media posts behind that he recently got engaged to his girlfriend Traci Griffiths.
The couple met when Ms. Griffiths sought expert advice from Dr. Teo in 2009, though they didn’t start dating until 11 years later, after the brain surgeon separated from his wife.
Rumors of the wedding have followed the famous surgeon and his former patient for more than a year, but it looks like now there may be some truth to the whispers.
Ms. Griffiths, a vegan activist and fitness influencer, used revealing hashtags in the couple’s photos to suggest the change in their relationship status.
The former model constantly tagged photos of her and Dr. Teo with references to “#myhero” and “#mybestfriend” during their relationship, but in May she updated the hashtags to “#myfiance” and “#ilovemyfiance”.
The revelations are buried in a series of hashtags attached to Ms. Griffiths’ photos at the Charlie Teo Foundation Ball over two months ago.
Engagement suggestions continued in June with photos of the costumed couple attending a Great Gastby-themed birthday party.
The photos from the evening are titled with the same hashtags as her boyfriend and a nod to Dr. Teo’s paperboy outfit.
After abandoning the tantalizing suggestions, Ms. Griffiths remained silent on the subject of her report.
The animal activist hasn’t posted any more photos of the couple on her social media accounts, and there are no more revealing hashtags.
Neither she nor Dr. Teo responded to requests for comment on the engagement.
The exciting suggestions come when Dr. Teo took a step back from his job as a neurosurgeon after conditions were imposed on his medical record last year following complaints from colleagues.
In August 2021, the NSW Medical Council banned Dr. Teo from performing high-risk surgeries without the written approval of a second independent neurosurgeon.
The restrictions will remain in effect until next month.
Prior to reviewing his medical practices, Dr. Teo had built his reputation by operating on people with incurable or inoperable brain tumors.
