Unborn children can be registered as dependent in Georgia

Georgia law states that life begins at conception. Aside from cases of rape and incest, or if the mother’s life is in danger, abortions are prohibited in the state. The Georgia Department of Revenue (DOR) said the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization the ruling sees the unborn as “natural persons”.

Therefore, in this logic, the unborn child has constitutional rights. Georgia’s tax department will now allow taxpayers to declare unborn children as dependents. “The department will recognize any unborn child with a detectable human heartbeat … as eligible for Georgia’s individual tax exemption,” the DOR said. Tax exemptions can reach $ 3,000 per unborn child. A heartbeat can be detected as early as six weeks into pregnancy by ultrasound.

Some liberal voices are also praising this new law as it will help low-income families in need of extra money. Other states strongly opposed to the practice of abortion could follow suit. Let’s just hope the government doesn’t find a way to tax the unborn.
