Ireland and South Africa will compete in the second and final T20I of the two-game series. South Africa, led by Keshav Maharaj, lead the series 1-0 after finishing the opening game by 21 points while defending 211 points.
It was yet another case where Ireland did well but fell short this summer, having raced extremely close to India and New Zealand earlier this season. Chasing 212 points, only two batters, Lorcan Tucker (78) and George Dockrell (43) made it past the 20-point mark. The lack of support from other hitters meant Ireland ended up only scoring 190 points in their 20 overs, which was a big effort nonetheless.
South Africa, on the other hand, continued their good run on the UK tour and this time it was Reeza Hendricks (74) and a quick 56 from Aiden Markram who propelled them to a formidable total of 211 runs in their 20s. over.
With the ball, Tabraiz Shamsi continued his good work while Keshav Maharaj ended his stint with just 29 points (2 wickets) in his four overs.
Proteas would like to end their UK tour on a high, as this is Ireland’s last chance to ensure they record a win on the scoreboard this summer.
