San Miguel takes command of the semifinal after Meralco’s demolition in Race 1 │ GMA News Online

San Miguel Beermen put together a wire-to-wire dominance against Meralco Bolts, 121-97, to win Game 1 of their semifinal series to best of seven semifinals in the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup on Wednesday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Beermens wasted no time and started to play well, eventually closing the first quarter with a 33-17 lead. It was the beginning of the SMB dominance, which continued until the final siren to claim their first semi-final win.

Rodney Brondial stood out in the game by recording 20 scorers and 11 draws, while CJ Perez added 25 points, five rebounds and four assists. Vic Manuel worked his way into the match and listed 16 points.

Chris Banchero connected all five of his triples for his 17 points in the defeat. Raymond Almazan scored 16 points and six rebounds, while Raymar Jose and Cliff Hodge added 12 and 11 points each.

Match 2 of the series will be played on Friday at 15:00
