Chelsea have made an offer worth over £ 50m for Brighton left fielder Marc Cucurella as they seek to close a deal for the Spaniard in the coming days, it was reported.
The Blues are now on the rise for the dynamic curly-haired defender and there is a belief that Manchester City have completely moved away from the negotiating table after starting talks with Anderlecht for left-back Sergio Gomez.
The development gave Chelsea the green light to move forward with a swooping blow for Cucurella and there is now confidence that the transfer will go through.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have now submitted an offer worth over £ 50m for the former Barcelona and Getafe player.
Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has also appeared during the club-to-club discussions, though Express Sport understands that any sale could be a separate transaction.
Romano tweeted: “On Tuesday evening Chelsea presented an offer worth over £ 50m for Marc Cucurella. The club now hopes to reach full agreement with Brighton, still no official response: Cucurella is pushing to join the team. Chelsea wants the transfer. “
Before adding: “Levi Colwill, discussed separately”.
City are said to have made a bid of up to £ 40 million before walking away from the table, despite Cucurella attempting to force a transfer to Etihad Stadium.
He filed a formal transfer request last week, but Brighton insisted he wasn’t going anywhere.
Cucurella is also believed to have missed training on Friday before missing Brighton’s 5-1 pre-season friendly win over Espanyol.
Seagulls boss Tony Bloom previously made it clear that the club has all it takes when it comes to keeping the player, but now Cucurella may finally be ready to make his wish come true.
RB Leipzig left-back Angelino and Destiny Udogie are among the possible names that could replace Cucurella on the south coast.
Cucurella’s imminent arrival in west London could also trigger Marcos Alonso’s departure for Barcelona.
Alonso is eager to make the move but Chelsea have yet to sign the deal due to a lack of reinforcements.
Center-back Colwill has attracted interest from various Premier League clubs, but Brighton are now in the pits for the former Huddersfield loan.
Malang Sarr is also close to finalizing the loan transfer to Monaco which includes the option to make the transfer permanent.
Chelsea are also in the market for a right back with Kyle Walker-Peters and Denzel Dumfries among those of interest to the board.
Inter Milan do not want to sell Dumfries, however, while Walker-Peters could cost between £ 30 million and £ 40 million.
