DISNEY + shared the trailer for his next series Andorwhich also reveals a postponed release date.
Originally slated for debut on August 31, the first three episodes of the original Lucasfilm series, set before the events of Rogue One: A Star Wars Storywill now premiere on Disney + on September 21.
The show is described as a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, centering on the journey of the smuggler and rebel spy Cassian Andor (Diego Luna). The series is said to tell the story of the Empire’s budding rebellion and how people and planets connected. It is a time of danger, deception and intrigue, and Cassian is about to embark on a journey that will transform him into a rebellious hero.
Showrunner Tony Gilroy said, “It’s about being really anti-revolution, cynical, lost and kind of a mess. His foster home will become the basis of our entire first season and we see that place radicalize. Then we see another planet that has been completely dismantled in a colonial way. The Empire is expanding rapidly. They are wiping out anyone who stands in their way. “
The first 12 episodes will cover one year, with the production of the second (and final) season spanning the four years leading up to Thief One.
The series features a number of returns Star Wars characters as well as many new ones. The talented Forest Whitaker reprises the role of Saw Gerrera, a character seen for the first time Thief One in 2016.
Meanwhile, Genevieve O’Reilly will return as the leader of the Mon Mothma rebels. Caroline Blakiston first played the character in the ’83s Return of the Jedi. Then, O’Reilly took over the role in 2005 Revenge of the Sith and it’s back Thief One.
Stellan Skarsgard, Kyle Soller and Denise Gough will join them. Adria Arjona, of good omens, is the latest addition to the cast. Andy Serkis will reportedly reprise his role as ruthless Supreme Leader Snoke.
