The 1975 sharing video for the new song “Happiness”, Announce Tour

1975 released ‘Happiness’, the second single from their upcoming album Be funny in a foreign language. The band’s Samuel Bradley directed the video for the song, which you can see below.

Discussing the new single in an interview with Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe, 1975’s Matty Healy said:

“Happiness” is like … there are literally a lot of us in the room on that track. Eyes closed … they don’t really have much structure. It came like jamming. And we hadn’t done it for years like that. So we just wanted this record to be really like a captured moment and not too built up and not even produced that much … We did it in about a day. And we are the ones having fun. And I think there is this real desire in art to see something extraordinary with as little technology as possible.

Healy also talked about working with Jack Antonoff on the new LP. “I love Jack’s work and Lana’s [Del Rey] records, in particular, like some of my favorite things, “he said.” So we were talking about it. We became friends talking about production and what I was doing and what he wanted to do and what I wanted to do. And then I thought, ‘Well , this is like a nice new energy. ”I don’t… because we’re so closed, me and George [Daniel], we have always been so closed. “Why don’t you like to come to the studio and see what happens?” And then she did. And, ever since, we’ve been just great, great friends. “

He continued:

Hey it’s so good. What this does is identify what an artist is really good at or where the truth comes from. And it’s kind of like, if you think of a great comedian, the language of the same sense of humor, they can sense where the humor is in the situation. Jack is like, he’s like me, do you know what I mean? He is like a culture vulture, he is full of references. He knows the shit about him, man. He understands what artists need at any given moment. And it happened very, very naturally. And I think we were just hearing a lot of things out there. And all of these things came together a little bit. Yeah, and Jack and I were talking about music and then those conversations, me, Jack and George. And then those conversations became on a 1975 record that felt more live. And then I was kind of like, “Well, why are we talking about it? Why don’t we just do it?”
